YardRampRental.com yardramps, forklift ramps or container ramps feature most of the features noted below. These guidelines and descriptions should provide a strong overview of yardramps and assist in your evaluation.
Because we buy used yardramps, it is possible certain features or specifications will vary. Manufacturers and even colors will vary. In determining whether to make an offer on a used yardramp, we employ an appraisal process emphasizing structural integrity to ensure we rent or sell high quality yardramps. However, your quote will be for a specific unit and the details for that unit will be listed on your quote.
YardRampRental.com's typical yardramp will be 84" in width and 36' in length with six feet of level off. The capacity will be 20K lbs. The unit will include either a tow bar or a ramp clamp.
While these are the most common yardramp specifications, exceptions do occur. We will also consider acquisition of units with capacity's of 16K lb or 25K lb; 70" in width; and, 30' in length depending upon demand.
Hydraulic Pump
Adjust front lip to desired height smoothly and quickly by using the two
hydraulic cylinders. To safely lower unit into place, open the release
valve. Pump is mounted internally to protect from damage.
Steel Box
Tubular steel box undercarriage assembly. 18" wheels with solid rubber,
pneumatic profile for easy positioning.
Serrated Grating
Forklift traction is essential for safe operation. Open design featuring
serrated grating prevents buildup of water and debris. Lower end
approach plate gives maximum support and smooth transition on to
ramp.
Tow Bar
Tow bars feature a fast-locking, easy hook-up to the yardramp connection and makes towing over long distances practical.
Ramp Clamp
Ramp clamps assist operators in moving the yard ramp over short distances. Forklift inserts into swiveling lift loop and is secured by locking device.
Correct yard ramp capacity is crucial to the safety of your drivers and the protection of loads being moved. In order to determine the appropriate capacity of the yard ramp, find the capacity of your forklift. This information can be found on the forklift itself (check to the right of the seat or to the right of the steering wheel) or the User's Manual.
Usable Width
Yard ramps are available in 70" (64" usable width) and 84" (78"usable width) ramp
widths. The usable ramp width should be at least 15" wider than the widest equipment
to be used on the ramp. For railcar use, select the ramp width wide enough to prevent
the forklift from hitting the ramp curbs as it turns into the railcar. Consult your forklift
manual for radius turning capabilities. Measure railcar door openings to make sure the
yard ramp will fit the opening.
Straight 30' Length - Used primarily for ground-to-dock applications where no level-off is required.
Level-Off 36' Length - A six-foot level off at the upper end of the ramp facilitates easier forklift maneuverability into truck
and railcars. This is particularly important in handling pallets next to openings. The 36' with level-off is most popular where end loading or roof clearance is required from trailer or railcar and with refrigerated equipment.
Loading & Offloading Instructions
For your convenience, download Offloading Instructions (PDF) produced by Bluff
Manufacturing, one of the leading manufacturer of yardramps in the United States.
While the information was written specifically for Bluff products, the basic information
can be applied to ramps produced by other manufacturers as well. Special
considerations must be taken when moving a yard ramp. Offloading and loading will be
discussed prior to executing a rental, sale or purchase agreement.

Securing Yard Ramp Undercarriage When Shipping
The undercarriage system must be tied to keep the wheels up close to the underside
of the ramp so that the wheels do not move outward during transport. To tie the
undercarriage, simply cut a piece of tin wire or any reliable strap and wrap around one
of the axle and hub then through the grating and tie a knot on the top side of the ramp.
When unloading remove the strap or wire after the ramp unit is in its ready to use
position.
